2020 Series Notes
The strangest Crosstown Classic ever. No fans. 60-game COVID season. Empty ballparks in July with the city locked down. And yet both teams showed up and played meaningful baseball — both the Cubs and White Sox made the playoffs for the first time in the same season since 2008.
The Sox won the first series at Wrigley 2-1 in July. The Cubs answered by winning the South Side series 2-1 in September, including a 10-0 shutout blowout on September 25 — the largest shutout margin in Crosstown Classic history. Series split 3-3.
Both teams were eliminated in the Wild Card round. But it was the most competitive Crosstown Classic in years, played entirely in silence.
